Reformer Pilates in Concord, on Majors Bay Road.

###A local studio for a local practice

The Pilates Project is an independent Reformer Pilates studio at 117A Majors Bay Road, Concord — a short walk from Concord West station and a few minutes' drive from Cabarita, Mortlake, and Five Dock.

We're not a chain. We don't have a national app or a corporate timetable. We have one studio, two founders who still teach the bulk of classes, and a community of locals who've made Reformer part of their weekly rhythm. Class sizes are capped at 10 deliberately — bigger studios fit 14, and we left those four seats empty so instructors can actually see your form, correct your alignment, and remember your name.

###What is Reformer Pilates, exactly?

Reformer is Pilates performed on a specialised piece of equipment — a sliding carriage on rails with adjustable springs that provide resistance. The springs make every exercise both supported and challenging at once, which is why Reformer suits a wider range of bodies than mat Pilates or traditional gym work.

A class is 50 minutes, full-body, low-impact, and surprisingly demanding. You'll work strength, length, balance, and control — and you'll find muscles you didn't know you had. Beginners are welcome at every class; we'll show you the springs and the cues. Regulars get pushed further at the same time, because the springs let everyone work at their own resistance.

###Who comes to The Pilates Project?

Mostly women aged 25 to 65 from Concord, Five Dock, Drummoyne, Cabarita, Mortlake, and Strathfield. Some are professionals fitting movement around busy weeks. Some are mums returning to strength training after pregnancy. Some are in their 60s, building bone density and balance. Some are dancers and runners using Reformer as cross-training. The class is built so all of them work together comfortably.

###What makes us different from other Concord studios

Concord has more than one Reformer studio now — and we're genuinely glad about that, because it means more people are discovering Pilates. What we offer that no one else on the strip does: capped class sizes, founder-led instruction, a dedicated Stretch class, and TeenFormer for 12-to-16-year-olds. We're not built for scale — we're built for the people who walk through the door.

###Start with the intro offer

Five classes for $55, valid for two weeks. Enough time to try a couple of Reformer classes, maybe a Barre or a Stretch, and feel whether this is your studio. No membership pressure, no commitment.
