The Pilates Project runs Barre classes from our studio at 117A Majors Bay Road, Concord — a small, independent studio serving Concord, Five Dock, Drummoyne, Cabarita, and the broader Inner West.
Our Barre classes are music-led, low-impact, and surprisingly tough. 45 minutes of pulses at the barre, mat work, and light weights, set to playlists loud enough to push you through the bits you'd normally quit on. No dance background required — promise.
###What Barre actually is
Barre is a low-impact, full-body strength class that borrows from ballet — the barre, the pulses, the focus on small controlled movements — without requiring any dance skill. You'll work legs, glutes, core, and arms, with floor work, light weights, and isometric holds. Every movement is small, but the repetition is what creates the burn. It's the kind of class where you don't think you're working hard until you try to walk up stairs the next morning.
###Who Barre is for
Anyone wanting low-impact, joint-friendly strength work. Particularly suited to women in their 30s, 40s, 50s, and 60s, post-natal mums (with clearance), people recovering from injury, and anyone who finds high-impact classes wear them down. Barre rewards consistency — most people see body composition changes within 6 to 8 weeks of regular classes.
